Mijas Costa and the charming village of Mijas Pueblo have always been a highly-sought after location for holidaymakers. From Mijas to Calahonda, all the urbanisations along the 12km stretch of coast road come under the “Mijas Costa” label including La Cala de Mijas, but for here we will concentrate on the towns in and around the Mijas area.
The wonderful Mijas Pueblo is just 8 kilometres inland from Fuengirola and is the epitome of the traditional quaint Andalucian white mountain village. Stroll through the narrow, cobbled streets and you will come upon pretty squares with balconies hung with colourful flowers. Or if the day is too hot to walk, sit back and be shown the sights from a horse and carriage. Mijas Pueblo is full of interesting and exquisite tiny shops full of arts and handicrafts and it even has a chocolate factory. One must-see is the breath-taking panoramic view from the beautiful gardens at the top of town, past the bullring.
Mijas Pueblo and the Mijas coastal area is the perfect place to stay with plenty to see and do and benefits from easy access to the toll road to travel along the coast in either direction. From the beach for water sports to the mountains for hiking and tennis and horse riding in the middle, there is a myriad of activities to participate in. The Mijas Costa coastal area offers large stretches of beach to smaller rocky coves and plenty of restaurants and bars to keep you excited about your next night out.
