Why a romantic mini break to the Costa del Sol is the best Valentine’s gift

Don’t panic if you haven’t made plans for Valentine’s Day yet. There’s still time to plan something epic which will blow that special someone away! A romantic mini break and some winter sun is the perfect way to show your partner how much you care and we have availability at great value low season prices for some stunning holiday rental properties on the Costa del Sol.

There’s a couple of ways to do this to get maximum brownie points with your other half –

Arrange a surprise trip

    1. Check with their work, family and friends and let them know that you’re planning a romantic mini-break and make sure they don’t have any plans and can get a few days off work.
    2. Tell that special someone to take the day off work on Valentine’s as you want to do something special together – it’s a Friday this year, so perfect for a getaway.
    3. Then book the flights and accommodation and ask them to meet you for your Valentine’s Day surprise on the morning of the day itself – but don’t give the game away by meeting at the airport, meet somewhere for breakfast and have one of their friends or family pack a bag and put in the passports ahead of time so you have everything ready to go.
    4. Ask us to have a luxury welcome pack at the villa or apartment, so everything is ready for you when you arrive.
    5. Ask us to recommend a great place for dinner near to your holiday rental and book a special meal in advance
    6. Plan some activities you know they’d love, whether it’s a game of golf, a picnic on the beach or a trip to a spa, there are so many special things to enjoy here on the Costa del Sol.
    7. Enjoy the perfect getaway with the one you love!

Present them with a wonderful gift

    1. Make a booking for dinner at a local Spanish restaurant and when you’re there, present him or her with a card, with a voucher for a romantic trip away to the Costa del Sol. The Spanish setting will make it so much more special.
    2. Take a look at prices and options, or discuss it with our helpful team, but don’t book it until your other half has told you when they can get away from work, or when they have a free slot in their calendar.
    3. This is less to organize and also let’s you both choose where you stay and when you go together, perfect for busy couples or partners who like to stay in control.

Whatever option you choose, our experienced team are here to help you get everything sorted. We’ve all lived and worked here for years, so we can make recommendations on the best property, places to go and things to do to make it a wonderful getaway.

With our holiday favourites collections you can choose from Beachside, Luxury, Villas with Pools, Budget Holiday Homes, properties with great views, or golfing homes. Contact us today and let’s get started planning the perfect Valentine’s romantic getaway here on the Costa del Sol.

Spa breaks on the Costa del Sol

As we head into the winter months, one of our favourite activities is visiting a beautiful spa and letting all the tension and stress melt away. There are a number of fantastic spas along the Costa del Sol and you can choose between circuits or treatment spas, or other spas which do both. There are also some great deals to be had, especially if you like spa circuits.

Our suggestion for a winter break is to try a selection of spas over your holiday, as they all have their different charms. This is also a good excuse to visit different parts of the Costa del Sol and explore. Here are four popular spas between Estepona and Benalmadena and holiday rental properties close to them.

Estepona

Villa Padierna – One of the most spectacular spas in this area has to be Villa Padierna, between Marbella and Estepona. Imagine columns, statues and marble, not to mention a Roman inspired aromatic spa circuit.

We have a number of great holiday rental properties within easy reach of this spa, such as this 2 bedroom holiday rental apartment in Acosta Los Flamingos Benahavis. This spacious, luxurious holiday rental apartment boasts stunning views, communal gardens and a beautiful pool area and is well located to explore the white village of Benahavis, and the vibrant towns of Marbella and Estepona.

Marbella

Six Sense Spa Marbella – Located on the Golden Mile of Marbella is the spectacular Six Senses Spa. They offer wonderful treatments, herbal steam room, dry sauna, hammam, indoor pool and a nail bar.

To be within easy reach of this spa and all that Marbella and Puerto Banus have to offer, we’d recommend this Puerto Banus holiday rental apartment close to the beach which boasts two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Best of all is its fantastic location within walking distance of central Puerto Banus and just a five-minute drive to the Six Senses Spa.  Another great option is this really central one bedroom holiday rental in Marbella right by the port, within walking distance of all the sights and nightlife that Marbella has to offer. This is also a short drive from the spa, so they are both excellent options for a winter break.

Mijas

La Cala Spa – This light, bright spa offers a hydrotherapy circuit, an aesthetic medicine area, hairdresser, gym and wellness activities. They offer affordable packages allowing full access to the pool, hydrotherapy pools and thermal suite, and run regular treatment offers too.

La Cala de Mijas is a great place to holiday, with wide sandy beaches, a popular town centre with restaurants, shops and a weekly market and great golf courses nearby. It is also within easy reach of Fuengirola, with loads of great things to see and do. Our office is based here in La Cala and we have a large selection of great properties such as this stylish and modern two bedroom holiday rental apartment in La Cala Hill Club. On an exclusive community and with great views, this would be a fantastic base for a spa break.

 City centre spa

For a sensational city centre spa and a flavour of the Moorish heritage and history in Andalucía, try the Hammam Al Andalus in Malaga’s stunning Old Town. The beautiful interiors and traditional rituals will really transport you back in time and it’s perfectly placed to explore the Old Town and see the Christmas lights if you’re here in December.

Please feel free to ask our helpful team for recommendations on what to do and where to go on your next winter getaway to the Costa del Sol. We look forward to welcoming you for a bit of pampering. It’s impossible not to de-stress and relax in the warmth and beauty here in Southern Spain!

Treat your loved one to a romantic minibreak for Valentine’s Day

Treat your loved one to a romantic minibreak for Valentine’s Day

We’re romantics here at HolidayRentalontheWeb and adore making big gestures for the ones we love. There’s no better time to do that than Valentine’s Day and no better way than whisking them off for a minibreak.

You may not think of visiting the Costa del Sol this time of year, but it’s a great time to visit, as the great festival of “Carneval” is in full swing with parades, events and fun activities. Not only that, but there’s so much romance and passion here and some lovely things that you can do for that special someone. Here are a few ideas –

  1. Stroll down the seafront promenade hand in hand and sip Spanish champagne looking at the waves. Watch the sun set over Gibraltar and marvel at the outline of the Rift mountains of Africa visible in the distance.
  2. Treat yourselves to a gastronomic experience to remember in one of the Costa del Sol’s wonderful restaurants and gourmet markets. We have something to suit all budgets and tastes, from a delicious selection of tapas in a little bar, to a seven course taster menu in a Michelin starred restaurant.
  3. Visit the beautiful white villages inland from the coast, such as Casares, Ojen and Istan.
  4. Take in the culture at the incredible art galleries in Málaga, or simply enjoy shopping, eating and drinking in this incredible city.
  5. Discover the wines in Ronda by visiting the bodegas and enjoying wine tastings with the makers

If you are planning a romantic break, please let us know, so we can advise you on the best properties to choose. We can also arrange special treats for you, like champagne, chocolates and flowers on arrival, or get you a booking at the most romantic restaurants near your holiday rental.

Have a very happy and romantic Valentine’s and we hope to be able to make it even more special!

Get in the mood for love with a romantic getaway

Get in the mood for love with a romantic getawayThere’s no escaping Valentine’s Day, with cards, balloons, flowers and gifts starting to fill the shelves as soon as Christmas is out of the way. But if you haven’t decided what to do yet and want to avoid the clichés or do something very special, then why not whisk the one you love away from it all for some winter sun in Spain. This year 14th February falls on a Sunday, so it’s a great opportunity to go for a short break, from Friday to Monday. We have a range of holiday rentals available for short breaks, so please just ask to see the collection.

The Costa del Sol is a great place to spend Valentine’s Day, as it’s not so commercial or over the top as the UK, yet still feels very special. Many of the International restaurants put on special events for the night and you can see a list of great options for Valentine’s on the Costa del Sol on My Destination Marbella.

Alternatively you can create your own romantic moments. To help you create something really special, here are a few ideas (don’t worry, we won’t tell her you didn’t think of it yourself) –

  • Picnic on the Beach – Sitting on the beach with a bottle of champagne or Spanish cava, ham, cheese, strawberries and chocolates with the sand between your toes is a very special experience and even better when it’s in February and so cold at home. This is a low cost, but very romantic experience, we’d suggest you go down there in the early evening and watch the sun go down.
  • Take the cable car up to the top of Mount Calamorro in Benalmadena and enjoy the 15 minute ride and exceptional views from the top. Hide a bottle of fizz in your bag and find a secluded spot for a unique Valentine’s moment.
  • Head to the slopes for a day of skiing in the Sierra Nevada and cuddle up in a cozy bar for a mulled wine. You can be down on the coast again for a romantic meal by the beach in Marbella – that’s pretty hard to beat for a very special someone.
  • Go to a local market and cook a delicious meal to enjoy on your terrace. Then as evening draws in, snuggle up by the fire in your holiday rental, for a perfect evening away from it all.

We can find you the perfect holiday rental property to make the most romantic gesture or even pop the question. Contact us and let us know what you need and we can suggest a list of properties which will really impress, featuring heated pools, hot tubs, saunas, four poster beds and open fires, so you won’t leave anything to chance. Happy Valentines!

Romantic Getaways on the Costa del Sol

beach-heartFebruary is obviously the month for showing your love and a romantic retreat can be just the ticket to getting those sparks flying. The Costa del Sol is a great option for some winter sun, great food and atmosphere just a few hours away from the UK and almost all the restaurants put something special on. However, romantic getaways for other special occasions through out the year are just as enjoyable on the Costa del Sol.

For Valentines, the Manolo Santana Racquets club tends to put on a romantic dinner with live music and a luxury menu in a really nice environment, Suite at Puente Romano also do a special menu and have live music. If you’re staying in San Pedro El Rincon de La Sala is a good option for a special set menu designed for two, or if you’re around Nueva Andalucia then Nueva Campana have special menus too. Have a walk around your local area and you’re sure to spot something which suits, but if you are wanting to book for Valentines, make sure you book early as it’s a busy night!

Alternatively, you can turn your holiday rental villa or apartment into a love nest, simply pop down to the local supermarket for some delicious food and wine and some romantic candles and create your own special night to remember without having to venture outside.

If you want to treat your special someone to a romantic break, we can recommend the most suitable property for you, whether it’s a luxury villa which will win the most brownie points or if the perfect day starts on the golf course and ends in a stunning golf apartment we have something for you!!
