If you’re staying in a Costa del Sol holiday rental this year and want to buy some lovely fresh produce to cook, you should check out the organic market, the 3rd Saturday of every month in the Parque Alameda Marbella.
From Saturday 5th February and from then on every third Saturday of the month from 10.00-14.00 the Guadalhorce Organic Market will be coming to the Parque de Alameda in Central Marbella to share their fantastic organic produce with us. Farmers will be offering reasonably priced, seasonal, organic produce which is kind to the environment. More information can be found on their website www.guadalhorceecologico.es.
This is a great reason to visit central Marbella which is a lovely place to see. Whilst your there, make sure you have a stroll round this leafy park, look at the Salvador Dali statues on the Avenida del Mar (the pedestrianized walkway down from the park to the sea) and explore the Old Town which is just across the road.
If you like shopping in markets, but aren’t here whilst the organic market is on, there is also an excellent daily market held behind the Old Town in Marbella which sells stunning fresh produce such as meat, fish and vegetables. It also sells a great selection of herbs and spices, kitchen-ware and traditional Spanish produce such as cheese and ham. It’s open all day, but it’s best to visit early in the morning to get the best selection. Don’t expect it to be cheap, but the quality of the produce is excellent and there’s parking underneath.
