Support environmental charity Arboretum Marbella and have fun
Arboretum Marbella is a charity which is creating a people’s forest in Marbella made up of native species to the region of Malaga including trees, shrubs, grasses and vines. This forest is being planted using the concept of permaculture and is sustainable and organic. It is also playing an important role in protecting some of the endangered native species of the region such as the Andalusian Cork Oak. As well as creating a beautiful public park on deserted scrub land, an important part of the project is to educate people on the environment, trees and sustainable land management.
They often have fun events coming up and regular opportunities to plant trees and take part in activities!

Visit a Donkey Sanctuary and Explore the Inland Costa del Sol
El Refugio del Burrito is a registered Spanish Non-Profit Association working to improve conditions for donkeys and mules in Spain. Their Fuente de Piedra Farm is open to the public every day, entrance is free of charge and they are open between 10.00 am and 6.00 pm. Based in Fuente de Piedra, close to the famous Flamingo Lake, they provide a safe haven with wonderful facilities for some of the many donkeys and mules that have faced such a hard life.
Their traditional Spanish cortijo (farm), complete with a charming olive grove and traditional buildings, has been turned into a safe haven for donkeys and mules rescued from across Europe. You can meet their residents and learn all their stories as you walk around the grounds, discovering how they care for them. This is a perfect way to discover the beauty of the Spanish interior, while enjoying a fun and interesting visit that will also help the donkeys. The nearby Flamingo Lake is famous for the fabulously coloured flamingos that flock to it.
